charles, yes the dbexport/dbimport process can increase your performance - in some cases very dramatically. not only do the indexes get 'fragmented', the data pages will too. informix does do some page compression on its own to help this. you dont state if you have online or the standard engine. we run 3, 15 gig online instances which we periodically recreate from scratch. the performance increases greatly after each recreate. regards, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | . .
