Disk Storage

hi, The chapter on performance tuning in the book Informix Unleashed,says 'store the dbspaces which are prime real estate near the center of the disk' Now, does that mean important/valuable data is to be stored near the centers of the disk or the most frequently accessed data? Also, can we specify as to where the dbspace is to be located? how to position it near the center of the disk.Is it OS dependent ? Any ideas as to how it could be done in SCO.
