Re: 4gl version 4 to 7 upgrade

It has been a year since I have had to use it but... I believe that you can set the environment variable NO4GLPARAMCHK and it will allow you to not code the "returns" for now... Can anyone confirm the variable spelling? I would recommend revisiting the code later and fixing it so you don't need the env var. Who knows when it may go away??? ;^). Eric P. I think that when a function, that was supposed to return a value, did not return a value, an error occurred. The error might have also occurred when a function returned a value but the call to the function did not include : RETURNING ret_value The 4GL will compile, but the error occurs anyway. It is probably a good idea to use something like grep to search for all function calls where a value is not returned. I believe that the same was true of ESQL/C programs. If a value is being returned, do something with it. As a blanket statement, I would have to say that the newer tools require the code to be more exacting.
