Hey all, Is their a function available for returning the uppercase of a character string in an SQL statement. I thought there was but I may just be thinking of 4gl. I'm on solaris and Informix 7.24. Thanks in advance. Michael Brizendine michaelb@pegsinc.com

Your next best bet is to poke around the IIUG archives looking for the stored procedures which implement an UPPER function. However, those SPs are abominably slow because of the sheer amount of trickery they have to indulge in to get SPL to do anything useful with sub- strings. No criticism of the authors of the stored procedures; it isn't their fault at all. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
