You should be able to kill the application via a SIGHUP ( preferred ) or a SIGTERM. I forget the source for this but should neither of these work, you can try a SIGPIPE signal. If everything fails, you may use a SIGKILL, but only on the application. Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGKILL any sqlturbo process; you'll pay dearly for this kind of folly.
