Axel INFORMIXSERVER is the same as SERVERNAME and SERVERALIAS in your ONCONFIG file. Also you need to set INFORMIXDIR, ONCONFIG (to the full path name of your onconfig file for that instance) and PATH (to $PATH:$INFORMIXDIR/bin) . The FM will tell you more. Refer the DB Admin Guide. Starting "DBACCESS - -" got me a message that the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable is not set (which is unknown to me in 5.0). While I am looking for other documentation please can anyone help me: what value is to set for this variable? Are there other variables to be set? (INFORMIXDIR, DBPATH, DBTEMP are set). TIA Axel
