Re: Another archive is already in progress-help [1
Posted in 2009
Debadatta's ontape backup failed with 'Another archive is already in progress' after running out of tape space. Bruce Marchu suggested killing leftover ontape processes. Debadatta found none visible. Ernest Knox posted onstat -u and onstat -g ses output showing a running ontape -s -L 0 session. No resolution was stated.

Hi,
It sounds like your original ontape process is still running.? So, when you
started up the ontape backup again the conflict happened.? I suggest that you
kill off all of the ontape sessions and then restart the ontape ?backup.? On
UNIX systems you could do something like:?? ps? -ef? | grep ontape?
to see what ontape sessions currently exist.

Bruce Marchu

Subject: Another archive is already in progress-help [17248]
Hi
I am facing issue with my ontape backup.
I was running a backup with ontape with exited out due to no more space on
tape. Now when i increased the tape space still it is failing with the below
error.
Archive failed - Another archive is already in progress on DBspace
can anybody direct me how to fix the problem without restarting the server.
thanks
Deba
