Hi Paul,
I found out that the most common time when this error
occurs is when sys-admyns decide to reorganize/synchronize
common files in /etc (hosts, services, group, passwd ...).
They usually copy/move files from/to machines/directories
and in some cases overwrite default permissions for those files.
But IDS seems to look for default permissions on specific
platforms and issue this error/warning.
Just check permissions.
