/INFORMIXTMP is a directory that is created at initialization time by
Informix if it's not already there. The directory contains files that
is related to network files that the online creates. You can look on
page 2-16 of the Guide to 7.1 Enhancements for more info.
The problem that you seem to be having is that Informix can not create
the /INFORMIXTMP directory at startup. Are you trying to bring up the
instance as root or informix? If so, it may be some type of permission
problem under the root directory.
