Informix doesn't start after reboot

Hi everybody.
I have restarted a debian server. After the boot process have finished,
I found that informix can't start (and I swear that it always started,
since the last 9 months!).
These are the facts:
Starting informix (as the user informix) this is what happens:
$ oninit -vChecking group membership to determine server run modesucceeded
Reading configuration file '/opt/informix/etc/onconfig'...succeeded
Creating /INFORMIXTMP/.infxdirs ... succeeded
Creating infos file "/opt/informix/etc/.infos.datapos" ...
"/opt/informix/etc/.conf.datapos" ... succeeded
Writing to infos file ... succeeded
Checking config parameters...succeeded
Allocating and attaching to shared memory...succeeded
Creating resident pool 3042 kbytes...succeeded
Creating buffer pool 40002 kbytes...succeeded
Initializing rhead structure...succeeded
Initializing ASF ...succeeded
Initializing Dictionary Cache and SPL Routine Cache...succeeded
Bringing up ADM VP...
In the online.log I've got:
17:02:54 Informix Dynamic Server Started.
Thu Oct 13 17:02:56 2005
17:02:56 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
'/opt/informix/etc/log_full.sh'
17:02:56 Booting Language <c> from module <>
17:02:56 Loading Module <CNULL>
17:02:56 Booting Language <builtin> from module <>
17:02:56 Loading Module <BUILTINNULL>
This is the shared memory map after issuing oninit (before it was
blank):
$ ipcs
------ Shared Memory Segments --------
key shmid owner perms bytes nattch
status
0x52564801 196608 root 660 33554432 0
0x52564802 229377 root 660 10874880 0
0x52564803 262146 root 660 32768000 0
------ Semaphore Arrays --------
key semid owner perms nsems status
0x00000000 65536 root 660 8
------ Message Queues --------
key msqid owner perms used-bytes messages
Nevertheless, the informix server seems not to exist: no oninit (or
something like) process in ps.
If I try to stop the server I got this:
$ onmode -ky
onmode: Shutdown of the database server shall be done by killing
the database server processes, as the database server is
in Initialization mode and cannot accept onmode commands.
If I reissue the command, from the second time I got this:
shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'nomedatabase'
Any ideas?
If someone needs some other infos, just ask!
Thanks in advice.
Hello.
Seems like Informix is stuck in ADM VP.
I wouldn't know by myself, but this is what Mr. Andreas Breitfeld told me
about it (and also in his post to CDI, dated 14.10.2005)
---- cut ----
if "oninit -v" hangs in ADM VP:
The glibc build for i686 processor should be installed automatically if a
i686 or higher optimized kernel is selected in Debian installer. Otherwise
it must be installed manually:
apt-get install libc6-i686
---- cut ----
Hope this helps!
