temp space?

Hello out there!, I got a wierd error the other day, a (-229, -102) error "could not open or create a temporary file" on several programs. The programs errored on statements like "create temp table ..." and "create scroll cursor". The database is using 2.10.03M turbo. All of the tables are lumped into the rootdbs which is where I think the problems reside. Informix reports 65000 blocks available out of 200,000+ blocks total. Can the temp space grow shut while Informix reports 65000 blocks free in the rootdbs? Is there any other way to remedy the problem without reconfiguring the whole database?
