300GB magnetic requirement - can Informix handle it?

I am planning on installing a system that will require 300GB of magnetic disk. I am not sure if Informix V5 or 7 will be used. Has anyone had experience with this size database? I am concerned that Informix will have trouble with the 300 GB's. If I use V5, I will need to have 8 instances of Informix in order to reduce the backup and restore times. If I use V7, I assume I can have a single instance. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Please send replies to sjhillman@tasc.com. Thanks.
