Folks, IDS11.50 FC8, Redhat Linux 5 We are going to upgrade our OS from Redhat Linux 5 to Redhat Linux 6. Is it possible to use sort of In-Place approach to bring up our current IDS11.50 FC8 database ?( The current data could be readable or recognizable under new version of OS easily or difficult ? ) Thanks, Frank --047d7bea2fdceabf4604dc2ae702
Yes, you should be fine. An RHEL 5->6 upgrade is unlikely to touch your application data at all. You'd still be well-advised to take a Level 0 archive just before the upgrade though!
I agree with Neil. This should be a no-problem upgrade. Take an archive for safety (I always say: "Good DBAs are paranoid DBAs!") then just go for it. Art Art S. Art, Neil or All, Is there any more info/guidance/doc/talk about OS upgrade ? I checked Migration and Upgrade Guide, but did not see much info about OS upgrade. Wonder if there is more such type of info somewhere Thanks, Frank On Wed, May 8, 2013 at 7:34 AM, Art Kagel <art.kagel@gmail.com> wrote: > I agree with Neil. This should be a no-problem upgrade. OS upgrades are not a problem typically unless you have a version of Informix that was compiled before the new OS release existed and the vendor has changed some library. Art Art S.
