I use dbdiff2. It reads the definition from two databases and generates
DDL. Of course it doesn't handle saving revisions of that DDL. For that
I would recommend saving off a dbschema each time it mattered. For that
matter you can check out an excellent article on the topic in Informix
Tech Notes - I want to say Vol 4 Iss 1 - but loaned out my copy and
can't remember. Written by none other than our own known and loved J.L.
He also calls out Andy Orams book (O'Reilly - managing projects with make)
which I promptly went out and bought, read and have been savouring ever
since.
