Re: SQL query brings database server down
Posted in 1998
You are correct, when a query crashes the server in this manner it
indicates a serious product defect. There are a few defects like
this in the 7.10 product which have been fixed in patches, updates,
and more recent releases. One of them relate to the mechanisms
underlying "MATCHES", others to new features of the release.
The best way to find information about this and other product defects
is to use Informix's TechInfo facility, available from a top-level
link at the web site at http://www.informix.com . You must have
access to the facility, granted to licensed users with nearly any
support or maintenance agreement and also to holders of the Informix
Certified Professional (ICPP) credential. You can learn more about
the ICPP under the link to "Training", then "Classroom Training"
(at the moment, moving to the top level soon) from the Informix
web site.
The "bug search" tool has recently been greatly improved, in
response to user requests, and comes heartily recommended.
