Cathy: With the information you gave, it seems like you may have overlapping spaces. Remember that separate instances of Informix are not aware of the dbspaces (ie chunks) defined in other instances. I have to agree with Steve. Either the production and test instance
index dbspaces are overlapping or you are running into some 7.22 bug.
IDS 7.22 was a rather buggy version. You might look into upgrading to
7.24UC5 or later or make the jump to 7.30. Anyway first thing is to
check the chunks for overlap between the two instances. You can get
my aspace utility from the IIUG Software Repository in the package
utils_ak. Aspace is a wrapper for onspaces that prevents overlapping
chunks between multiple instances. It can also detect existing
overlaps while initializing its database.
