While running DBACCESS, we recieve a message: "Could not initialize the security subsystem. Please ensure that this account has the necessary privileges". The problem occurs, while connecting to remote server,=20 if INFORMIXSERVER variable is set to servername that=20 isn't specified in the local host registry as ONLINE server (and its = security too). We can't run now DBACCESS as manuals recommend, too: DBACCESS xdb@yserver or DBACCESS \\\\yserver\\xdb or simply DBACCESS - z.sql as we could in 7.23 IDS. Only explicit specification of CONNECT statement in running file (z.sql) = and setting INFORMIXSERVER to value that local registry contains make remote connection possible. It is utility error message (not NT). It can be found in all command = line utilities of 7.30 TC3 (corresponding message string is in utility file). The question is: Why did they do so? It is very uncomfortable doing so with DBACCESS. Any explanations? No problem exists for sqleditor in such a case. I.O. ------=_NextPart_000_0397_01BDABC7.6C5CBAE0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="koi8-r" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=3Dtext/html;charset=3Dkoi8-r http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D'"MSHTML 4.71.1712.3"' name=3DGENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>Hi,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>we're using IDS 7.30 TC3 (NT4.0=20 SP3).</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>While running DBACCESS, we recieve a = message:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>"Could not initialize the = security=20 subsystem.
