IIUG2017 Conference
Posted in 2017
Folks: Just in case you have had your head in the sand for the past many months and have not heard, the IIUG 2017 Conference is being held in Raleigh, North Carolina from April 23-27. That's just three weeks away. I am speaking now for myself alone as a fellow user, and not as a representative of the IIUG Board. This year it is especially important that as many users attend as can make it especially users in the US. The board and Conference Committee have made it easier than ever to attend. Raleigh is an major travel hub for several airlines, so travel is simple. The hotel we selected is beautiful, a short cab ride from the airport, and in the heart of the tech triangle area. There have been many changes in the management teams at IBM. There are some teams that are now populated by people who do not know Informix, its history, or its importance to the continued success of your businesses and careers. New market approaches in the industry and within IBM are changing how IBM looks at its software products. This conference is your opportunity to guide IBM, to make sure that your voices are heard. The Board speaks for you to IBM constantly, but sometimes we need other voices to back us up so everyone who hears us knows we speak for you and not just for ourselves. If you were not planning to attend this year, please rethink that decision. If management was reluctant to spend the $$, make the case again.. If you have been waiting for the last minute to register and book your stay at the conference hotel, get on the stick and do it now. Attendance at the IIUG Conferences has always been money well spent. This year more than ever. We need attendance this year to be better than recent years, not the same. See you in Raleigh!
