RE: Q: Memory Leaks with cursors

Michael, I've experienced the same problem in OnLine 6.0.UC1. Tech support had told me that it was a bug which was fixed in 7.10. Apparently, this may not be the case. (Yikes!) From your description, though, I can't tell whether you explicitly tried to FREE the cursor. If you haven't tried this, do so. Simply closing the cursor may not be enough. With the bug, though, even the FREE statement didn't plug the leak in my case. I too had to resort to disconnecting and reconnecting to the database during the program's idle times. (It was a backgroup process which, until the disconnect/reconnect, kept crashing the engine every 8+ hours.) --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu) > > Informix (7.10) doesn't free memory allcated for a cursor > after the cursor is closed.
