Make these fields just one character wide and give them the INVISIBLE attribute so they don't show up in the form and confuse the user. You should also set the field delimiters to " ". In your INPUT ARRAY statement, you can then use "DISPLAY field_var3, field_var4 TO screen_field3, screen_field4" in the BEFORE ROW section to display your fields in the non-scrolling area.
