schema default values
I have a problem I hope someone out there can help me with.
I need to insert default values into a table from a form, but the fields
are not used (displayed) on the form.
example:
database anything
screen
{
-------------------------- FORM ABC -----------------------------------
number [f000] date [f001 ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
}
end
tables
aa
atributes
f000 = aa.num;
f001 = aa.dt;
The table actually contains another field which the user doesn't see.
table example
create table aa
(
num char(4),
dt date,
ser_no char(6) default "AAAAAA"
);
I would like (ser_no) to contain a default value of (AAAAAA).
Informix tech support says that this only can be done if using
DBACCESS or ESQL. The strange thing is that creating a table
in this manner the default value is written to the sysdefault.dat
table. The application is using a 5.0 engine. Any help would
be appreciated.
