Re: IBM to hire Gumby!
Posted in 2009
This is not a technical support thread — it's an off-topic April Fools' spin-off that degenerates into banter and personal jibes between Ian Michael Gumby, Serge Rielau (IBM DB2) and Obnoxio The Clown, trading IQ insults and South Park/humour digs. The only technical content is a passing exchange about DB2's SELECT FROM INSERT INTO syntax (with customers reportedly asking for SELECT FROM MERGE) and Serge's remark that SQL dialect is just a parser-level matter. No problem is posed and no resolution is recorded.

Calling you brain dead would be an insult to cadavers everywhere. Actually a cadaver has more of a sense of humor. I don't know if its just you or the fact you've been in Canada too long. (Sorry to the Canadians, just go watch some of the South Park movies or South Park episodes.) Now you missed out on the April 1 jokes, and the only, *only* acceptable excuse is that you had so much to drink on St. Patrick's day that you didn't come out of your self induced coma until April 2nd.

Pretty good actually. Customers are even asking from SELECT FORM MERGE. Cheers Serge -- Serge Rielau DB2 Solutions Development IBM Toronto Lab

Funny, I thought South Park would be right up your alley. I found it funny the first 10 minutes. Too crude for my taste. > Now you missed out on the April 1 jokes, and the only, *only* > acceptable excuse is that you had so much to drink on St. Patrick's > day that you didn't come out of your self induced coma until April > 2nd. Oh, ballot stuffing. I get it. Start a thread on April fools and then randomly keep adding unprovoked insults and topic changes for the next weeks. Obnoxio The Clown wrote: > Serge Rielau wrote: >> SELECT FORM MERGE. > I think I can see why IBM's SQL implementation is so shit... :o) Huh? Implementation is code. You seem to be referring to the dialect itself. Language goes only skin deep. Parsers do that. If I wanted I could teach DB2 PL/SQL or SPL or TSQL.
