Read the notes somewhere under $INFORMIXDIR/release/.../ONLINE* 2. Also check the 4GL release notes in the same directory (4GL*). 4GL error handline changed a lot between 4.x and 6.x. You may need to recompile with c4gl -anyerr. 3. You can no longer ignore the values returned by a function:- FUNCTION x() RETURN 1 END FUNCTION MAIN CALL x() DISPLAY "Hi" END MAIN will no longer work you will get an error complaining that "a function has not returned the correct number of parameters". Basically 4GL 6.x is a lot stricter than 4.x and you cannot get away with as much under 6.x. 4. Cursor name handling changed in 4GL 6.x. Cursor names are now global and name mangling occurs so check the release notes again. Look for the CURSOR_NAME function which you can introduced in 6.01 [Yes I have a site which has 6.00.UD1 hence because of this one site out of 5 I cannot use CURSOR_NAME hence I cannot prepare cursors for UPDATE!!]. 5. Get 4GL 6.05 because versions before this have bugs, I've found several bugs, mainly input array ones. 6. Online 7.x is completely different to Online 5.x and a lot more complex to configure (the Admin GUide is twice the size and has 2 volumes rather than one now]. I would a) go on a training course if you can and b) read....A LOT c) Ask in c.d.i or e-mail me directly if you have any questions. >Thank-you in advanced > >Adam Sorati >adams@sgen.com.au > >PS.
