Hi all, we have upgraded our SCO OpneServer 5.0.5 Informix SE 5.06 to a SE 7.23. We are using SQL ver. 7.20, C-ISAM 7.23 and CSDK 2.30. I have noticed that some directorys have moved ($INFORMIXDIR/lib -> $INFORMIXDIR/lib/esql and $INFORMIXDIR/incl -> $INFORMIXDIR/incl/esql ). I have now problems with linking our software. The linker can't resolve the symbols sqli_db_open, sqli_db_close, sqlca, etc ... . I think there is a lib missing but I don't know whitch one. I am using libsql.a, libgen.a and libos.a. Can anybody help? -- Gruss Malcolm Wildenauer sfr Gesellschaft für Datenverarbeitung mbH Hospeltstrasse 32 D-50825 Koeln Telefon 0221/954-259-18 Telefax 0221/954-259-90 Email MWildenauer@sfr.de URL http://www.sfr.de
You can't use CSDK 2.30 because the libraries have change with ESQL/C v. 8.xx and 9.xx You need ESQL/C 7.xx to link with SQL ver 7.20. Sales rep. toll me last week that it's no more available but tech. support the me it is. So I'm waiting to buy it for a customer. I buy one at the beginning of the year. You may also find that the order of the libraries in the link path is important, or indeed in some cases you may have to link the same libraries twice. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible. I am using libsql.a, > libgen.a and libos.a. > > Can anybody help? The problem is that you are not using the esql script to do the linking. There are lots of different and extra libraries, with different names, in different locations. As long as you use the esql script to do the linking, all is fine -- it knows where the libraries are and sorts it all out. If you need to do it yourself, then you have to know as much as the esql script does. And you have to change your knowledge depending on whether you are using shared libraries or not, threads or not, and whenever you upgrade. It isn't worth it -- use the esql script to do the linking. I've yet to find a valid case where is was not possible to use the esql script to do the linking. I've had various scenarios proposed at various times, and it has always been possible to work around any issues raised. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.62 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
