ism_rm hangs

Windows 2000 informix dynamic server 9.3 ism_rm occasionally hangs. It always hangs on the same command, removing a particular volume. The hang doesn't happen all the time, and we haven't discovered a pattern or trigger for it yet. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what resources or conditions ism_rm intentionally blocks on? Thanks.
