Question for the IBM'ers: I don't see any Redbook Residencies listed for Informix, which leads me to believe that there aren't many Redbooks coming down the line. Am I wrong? Dave - We have done a number of books for Informix, and out of curiousity I checked with my Redbook Leader Chuck Ballard (I worked on one 2 years ago) to see if there were any that weren't posted and he officially invited me to be a part of a new Redbook for IDS 10. It will most likely happen sometime soon after Q1. Keep in mind, the final approval isn't done, but I was encouraged that it was in for consideration. It will be posted 2 or 3 months before it runs, and after approval. Meanwhile, if you have Informix ideas for a Redbook, DEFINITELY suggest them! Clients can work on Redbooks right along side IBM'ers on these books . You can send the topics to chuck_ballard@us.ibm.com. He would love to hear some more ideas. Well I looked into writing one just yesterday! Redbooks are developed by residences i.e. a group of you go to an IBM lab for 2-6 weeks and do everything and get it all working and then write about it. "all nominees must have the support and permission of their managers and companies for this significant mutual investment" so that is me out then! Besides I want some holiday this year and I've already told Art I am going to Tampa in May! Upcoming Redbooks that you can be nominated for are here http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/residents.nsf/ResIndex?OpenView&Start=1 so I assume IBM decides what redbooks get written. Perhaps I could do a redpaper http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/pages/redbooks ?? However I have offered to write some articles for the IBM website and my offer has been passed on to the relevant team in IBM. Just have to
