Informix consume one license for each connection. Informix don't control the user name at connection time to verify the licenses number, only do that for database privileges. If you do onstat -u you can see the same user with more one connections (one more licenses consumed). You can increase the licenses number acording the concurrents connections for the same user. For example if you have 100 users and each user do 2 connections to IDS you will be define 200 users at IDS configuration, otherwise only 50 users will be connect to IDS.
