Summary: Required client connection tools for JDBC
Posted in 1997
Summary ------- First, many thanks to Dave Otto, Peries Chaminda and Ian Kelly for the replies. Problem: I had problems making an ODBC connection from NT 4.0 client to an HP-UX 9.04 server with Informix-OnLine DS 7.14. This, in order to use JDBC with JDBC-ODBC bridge. The ODBC vendor's error message was asking for Informix-NET. As a product, Informix-NET does not exist. The confusion was caused by Informix's many (bad marketing) client-connection products/naming (Informix-CLI, Informix-Connect, I-Net and so on..). I was using Informix-Connect 7.2(that actually is I-NET) and ODBC 2.01 driver Solution: I've downloaded the latest ODBC drivers from Intersolv. Now with DataDirect ODBC set 3.01 everything works fine (at least I'm able to connect to the RDBMS server). Now I'm using: NT 4.0 client with INFORMIX-CONNECT 9.10, Intersolv's DataDirect ODBC 3.01. Perfect! Now I will try to produce basic stuff with JDBC. Thanks Again. Fernando Collalti e-mail: fernando.collalti@orbit.net
