Abhay If you create an index with the IN DBSPACE clause, Informix treats it like a fragmented index, regardless of whether you create it in the same or in some other dbspace. I think the advantage of having a fragmented index even on the same dbspace is that the data and index extents are not interleaved. Author: abhay@cheerful.com at Internet Date: 3/20/98 5:11 PM Hi, I've created one databse in a perticular dbspace with one table. If I create an index on that table using 'in dbspace' clause, sysextents table in sysmaster database reports it But if I create the same index without 'in dbspace' clause, it doesn't report it. Why ? ? Abhay Mannur Informix DBA Fairchild Semiconductor
