I have a client who is wanting to migrate from a Sun E450 running Solaris 2.6 to a Dell machine running Redhat Linux. They are using 7.2 ESQL/C, 4GL and Standard engine. They have about 100 ISQL forms, thousand's of C reports and over 200 4GL reports. I know there have been problems with running some of the Informix products on Redhat, and so do they and therefore want to be prepared. Will there be issues with recompiling the C or 4GL programs on Redhat? Has anyone done anything similar? (With like operating systems or like product) Would appreciate any advice or potential gotchas you can provide. TIA, Cindy
I'd stick to the E450, a much better box than the PC Cindy Lichtenauer wrote: > > I have a client who is wanting to migrate from a Sun E450 running > Solaris 2.6 to a Dell machine running Redhat Linux. > > They are using 7.2 ESQL/C, 4GL and Standard engine. > They have about 100 ISQL forms, thousand's of C reports and over 200 > 4GL reports. > > I know there have been problems with running some of the Informix > products on Redhat, and so do they and therefore want to be prepared. > > Will there be issues with recompiling the C or 4GL programs on Redhat? > > Has anyone done anything similar?
