Have you compared your kernel parameters with the suggested minimum
settings from Informix in the $INFORMIXDIR/release/ONLINE_7.1 file?
Also, you may want to play with the multiprocessor, single cpu vp type
parameters to see if you get better performance by running one cpu vp
but specifying to Informix this is a single cpu box.
