In fact, I have never been able to figure out why Informix send the runtime disks when you order the development version with it. If you look in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory at the file lists you will see that runtime is a subset of development. The files actually overwrite each other during installation (harmlessly if they are the same version). Anyone else know any different? I gather that Informix don't actually enforce the number of users you buy the software for, although, as honest customers that is of no interest to us. Maybe one day Informix will distribute their software on CD-ROM and include some kind of intelligence in the installation program to avoid all this loading of redundant software? It might also be able to figure out the correct order to load it all in having inspected the current installation and the license keys you have bought.
