Correct. TPC-C is used to set hardware prices. TPC-E IS the future for OLTP benchmarking in TPC. When IDS publishes TPC-E is up to the IDS team. C'mon. Get real. All of the TPC benchmarks test a combination of hardware and software. Its not just a DBMS system. So its a bit disingenuous for you to try to toss this off as "just a hardware" thing. Its not. The benchmark is a comprehensive solution. I find it difficult to believe that no one in senior management of IBM's SWG's IM team didn't have to sign off on this. You have to call in to question the credibility of IM's management team when they sing the praises of IDS. Two TPC-C benchmarks using DB2, yet no TPC-E benchmark after a year or longer since it was rumored IDS was being benchmarked. Someone (within IBM's executive management) needs to step up and make sure all groups are in sync with their messages. Clearly this is not happening. But hey! What do I know? I'm just a guy sitting on the hill side watching the train wreck below. -G PS. Again the sad part is that there are a lot of people doing good work that just got dumped on by their own management team.
