Looks like a typo in your $ONCONFIG file for ROOTPATH. 'informix' not 'infomrix'. Errno 2 is 'No such file or directory' Does the file '/informix/dbspaces/online_root' exist? Chunk files must pre-exist owned by user informix and group informix with permissions 660. Art S. I see from the zero length of this 'root' chunk and your original post that this is a new instance of IDS. Did you include the '-i' option to oninit to initialize the on-disk data structures? Just what the message says: The value you have set in the exported environment variable INFORMIXSERVER (if any) is not one of the names or aliases of the server that are defined in the ONCONFIG file in the DBSERVERNAME or DBSERVERALIASES parameters. Either set the INFORMIXSERVER correctly or update the ONCONFIG file with the servername(s) you want to use. Art S.
