JDBC performance with Java Plug-in :-(

Hi All: In order to have JFC/Swing support, I had to install the Java 1.2 plug-in from sun... Prior to the plug-in, I notice that an applet (using JDBC) took about 15 seconds to load up. Now, after the plug-in, it takes about 60-85 seconds. Reviewing the Java console, it appears that the JVM insists on trying to cache every single ".class" file in com.informix before loading up the applet. Using the plug-in control-panel, I tried to disable "cache all jars in memory" and that had no effect. Is there some kind of web-link I can go to that will indicate if there's a way to address this huge amount of pre-load time for applets using the Informix JDBC driver? Or is this just the accepted "norm"? thanks in advance, Theron K
