Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
My experience has been that if you overspecify the chunk size, Informix
does complain. It returns something to the effect that there is not
enough space on the disk to fit the overspecified chunk.
Like you, I also underspecify ( Leave a 1-2 MB offset at the beginning
of the device and leave 10-15 MB at the end). Not sure that this is the
best way, but my sysadm tells me that leaving some free space on the disk
provides for repair of bad blocks more efficiently.
