yet another RAID 5 thread

My organization is about to upgrade to Informix 11/RHEL 5 on some new hardware and some are pushing for us to put our dbspaces/chunks on a RAID 5 filesystem. Due to the number of times I have read people on here rant against it (especially Art), I have opposed this. As a result management is asking for documentation to verify my position. I have found most of Art's stuff, yet I have read on some posts to check out "posts on c.d.i". I don't know what that is, or at least don't recognize it. Can someone point me in the right direction to find this information? Thanks, Joe

Joseph, c.d.i is the group comp.databases.informix - which is a synonym for this list... -ScottM -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Obnoxio The Clown Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 1:35 PM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: yet another RAID 5 thread [14903] Joseph_Jurcazak@aotx.uscourts.gov wrote: > My organization is about to upgrade to Informix 11/RHEL 5 on some new > hardware and some are pushing for us to put our dbspaces/chunks on a RAID > 5 filesystem. Ummm. No, this is the IIUG Informix IDS list. Comp.databases.informix is a UseNet news group that you can also receive as an email list from the IIUG. The easiest way to search the c.d.i. archives is through a gateway's UseNet search. Google & Yahoo both have them, last I checked. --EEM > > -ScottM > > -----Original Message----- > From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of > Obnoxio The Clown > Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 1:35 PM > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Re: yet another RAID 5 thread [14903] > > Joseph_Jurcazak@aotx.uscourts.gov wrote: > > My organization is about to upgrade to Informix 11/RHEL 5 on some new > > hardware and some are pushing for us to put our dbspaces/chunks on a > RAID > > 5 filesystem.
