RE: 4GL 7.32.FC3 on HP-UX
Thanks Jon- This confirms my suspicion that the tar file is corrupt. I'm guessing that the reason the rest of the file doesn't line up in the 512 byte blocks is because the install4gprt file is truncated. I'm making that assumption because when you untar the file, the entire install script isn't there. Also, for some strange reason, the install script looks like a Windoze text file, with all of the lines terminated by a ^M character. I succeeded in finding a good copy of the installation for the 4GL development version (miss labeled on the PPA site as HP-UX 11.x 32 bit, Thanks Ulf!), so I can run my tests on it. I think I'll wait a few months and retry downloading the runtime version. Maybe by then enough complaints will have piled up that they'll have gotten it fixed. I'm appending the install4gprt contents, if anyone's interested. It looks like the last line (etc/install etc/fgprtfiles) is missing. --EEM : '^M : ************************************************************************ *^M :^M : INFORMIX SOFTWARE, INC.^M :^M : PROPRIETARY DATA^M :^M : THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS TRADE SECRET DATA WHICH IS THE PROPERTY OF^M : INFORMIX SOFTWARE, INC.
