There is, of course, nothing Informix can do about a current date in the year 2000 if the underlying operating system does not support current dates beyond the year 1999. Informix relies on the operating system to tell it what today's date is. Thanks to everybody who sent information about post-1999 dates. As far as I can tell, all versions of the SQL-based Informix products correctly handle dates into the 21st century, and correctly recognise that the year 2000 *IS* a leap year. The only version for which I don't have a definitive report is ISQL 1.10, and I'm not very concerned about that. Note that ISQL 1.10 was the first SQL-based Informix product, and was the version prior to ISQL 2.00 and I4GL 1.00, which were released at the same time. Back then, SE was just the database storage manager for ISQL; there was no Turbo or OnLine or ... What is more interesting is that there are Unix machines where the combination of hardware and/or operating system does not support dates beyond the year 2000, even though much of Unix is generally reckoned not to have a day of reckoning until the year 2038 (when the signed 32-bit integers overflow). It would probably be a good idea to check whether your hardware and o/s will let you have dates into the 21st century *now*, so that you can get it replaced before the end of 1999 if it won't.
