Informix RDS on Caldera OpenLinux 2.2.5

I have installed Informix SE 7.24.UC5, Informix RDS 7.20.UD7 on Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 (Kernel 2.2.5). Any command give me the message: "libcrypt.so.1 cannot open shared". Where Can I get these libraries ? Lozzo Atestino PD - Italy sgaravatti@job.pd.it

I not certain about 7.24 - was it a SCO port? If so you will have get the libraries from a SCO machine and install them. There is some notes for this on www.iiug.com I believe. I know that it took some 6.0 libraries to get I4GL 7.20.UD7 not to crash on RedHat 6.2 My problems is that I have yet to get SE 7.20.UD7 to work on RedHat 6.2. Do you have a working version? I keep getting an unknown servicename or protocol error. I have set INFORMIXSERVER ok, as well as looked at /etc/hosts and /etc/services - modified as necessary, but still no luck. Similar thing with IDS. ANY help appreciated. I keep going around in circles after trying all the manuals. One other thing - Apparently IDS needs more than 3000 File descriptors. Any idea how I can check the value on RedHat 6.2, and How I can change it if necessary? I had a problem like yours (perhaps), I have solved this putting the domain name.host name in the field "hostname" of the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file. You must put in that file exactly the contents of "uname -n" command. Good luck ! Yours Francesco Sgaravatti
