Chunk writes occur when a checkpoint is done and a checkpoint occurs when the
Physical Log reaches 75% full, every check point interval etc.
I believe if you a checkpointing every checkpoint interval your Physical Log may
be too large. The is a method of determining the optimal size of the Physical
Log in the Administration manual, have a look at that.
I don't see that you have a problem because of chunk writes, I believe you have
a problem because of the length of time to checkpoint.
