If your volume manager is capable of expanding the logical device with no loss of data you can do that, HOWEVER, this will not in itself expand the dbspace. You then have to add another chunk, on the same device, offset by the size of the first chunk on the device. Keep in mind also that Informix CANNOT USE LOGICAL OR PHYSICAL devices larger than 2GB. So if the original device was 2GB just create a new device. It is usually easier to just create a new device than to start with offsets if you do not have to. Art S. Kagel
