unload to file in "append" mode?

The official informix docs online don't discuss an append mode to unloading to a file. Any guidance on how to access that?

There isn't any particularly obvious way to do it -- best guess:
dbaccess dbname - <<! >>existing.file
unload to "/dev/stdout" select * from somewhere;!
I am assuming Unix, and a sufficiently modern Unix that supports
/dev/stdout.
Just for once, SQLCMD isn't a huge help either. There's a file,
grammar.y, that has the notation you want -- unfortunately, it isn't
the grammar actually in use (see connecty.y instead).
sqlcmd -U -d dbname -t somewhere >>existing.file
sqlunload -d dbname -t somewhere >>existing.file
