RE: Planning an Informix Database disk layout
Posted in 1998
You're right. Informix version = 9.14UC2x6 Platform = Sun - OS = Solaris 2.5.1 Application - PowerBuilder development Disk Sizing could be up to 400+Gb - RAID 5 Some tables could have as many as 120,000,000 rows The hardware configuration essentially needs to be eliminated from the picture, the question is trying to examine the Informix allocation of chunks to DBSpaces. An article in Tech Notes, 6-1 begins to discuss this, however it was largely about the hardware and disk connectivity. Now, back to the original question.... 1. Do we put the data into multiple DBSpaces? 2. Do we separate the indexes from the data or put the whole lot into one big pool? regards David > -----Original Message----- > From: paulw@wfsoftware.co.uk [SMTP:paulw@wfsoftware.co.uk] > Sent: Wednesday, October 07, 1998 9:33 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Planning an Informix Database disk layout > > In article <6vb7k1$krp$1@news.xmission.com>, david.g.wilson@nz.eds.com > (Wilson, David G) wrote: > > > > > Hi everyone.... > > > > > > Can anyone advise me if there have been any articles written, and ae > > available on the web, about a disk layout strategy?
