This is an easy one. Informix has row level locking. The default lock
mode is page, to turn it to row level, issue the command:
ALTER TABLE tablename LOCK MODE (ROW);

Recently I was in a discussion with an Oracle DBA
and he stated the Oracle has row level locking, where Informix has page level
locking. I went to Informix's web site and from what I can tell Informix ODS
does row level locking. However, the Oracle DBA insists Informix does
not have row level locking. Ok, could somebody please tell me who is correct,
or am I misunderstanding the concept of row level locking.
