QUES: Anyone seen error -229?

I'm getting error -229 from ESQL/C into a 5.0 OnLine DB. The ISAM error number indicates that a deadlock timeout expired. I've set DEADLOCK_TIMEOUT up to 60 as per Informix help, but I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this. Oh, BTW, on Solaris systems.
