Re: dBASE (xbase) to Informix

Oh dear, it's me again! -> : I realize it may be semi-automatic at best, maybe running reports -> from : dbase to ASCII files, then importing these into Informix. There was an old version of Informix for DOS that imported DBASE files directly, but I don't think that has a practical application here! -> I would consider redesigning the database when doing the transition -> from dBase to Informix. It could be valuable to fully normalize the -> data model, which often is not the case in dBase. Amen. I've actually found (in my humble experience) that Informix copes pretty well with 3NF/4NF databases and I avoid redundancy like the plague. And I'm talking about multi-GB databases. -> Anything will be better than DOS/dBase :-))) I couldn't have put it better myself. :) Cheers, Billy ---- Digitec Online - 20 Nodes....* Johannesburg, South Africa +27-11-476-2008 .............................* Best BBS * RsaNET User Choice Awards 1993 first.last@digitec.co.za.....* Best Sysop * RsaNET User Choice Awards 1993
