Hi there!!
I'm trying to install the Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup edition on a SCO
machine.
The unpacking of the product has succeeded but when executing oninit he
reclams something about the shared memory.
Has anybody experience in installing Informix on SCO? and if so, can anybody
give me some advice about eventual parameters to check.
Thanks,
A desperate informix user.

First, be sure to read the SCO specific release notes in the informix
installation directory (e.g. /usr/informix/release). You will have to modify the
shared memory kernel parameters for your SCO OS. Assuming you are running
version 5.0.5 or 5.0.4 use the ScoAdmin Kernel Configuration manager and
increase the value of SHMMAX to an amount greater than the shared memory
required to run your Informix engine. The default value is only 1/2 MB. If you
expect to allocate a very large amount of shared memory, you will also have to
increase MAXUMEM, which I believe is a multiple of OS page size (2 or 4K
increments). Remember the kernel should only be modified in single user mode and
a kernel rebuild/reboot will be necessary.
