CORBA Applications and Informix

Hi folks We are in the process of evaluating our global applications for replacement and one of the contenders is strongly pushing the CORBA angle. I am rapidly becoming familiar with just what CORBA means but as yet have been unable to determine whether it is a niche technology whose use-by date is about to expire, or the best idea since the Colonel battered his chicken.
