Dear group, I need your help urgently! Since two days I am trying to establish a reliable ODBC connection. I tried with Intersolve 3.11 and Informix 3.30. Not one attempt was successful for all requests. Here the environment: Server: IDS.2000 on Reliant Unix 5.43 on RM600 (Siemens) Client: Windows NT 4.0 Connection: OK Simple Selects with Excel or MS-Access: OK Last I downloaded newest SDK 2.40 with informix odbc driver 3.31: With our application we get the following errors: CaMain d9:122 ENTER SQLPrepare HSTMT 0x019d3670 UCHAR * 0x0012e120 [ -3] "SELECT * FROM TRSYSTEM WHERE HERSTELLERSYSTEM = ? FOR UPDATE OF herstellersystem ORDER BY herstellersystem\\ 0" SDWORD -3 CaMain d9:122 EXIT SQLPrepare with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR) HSTMT 0x019d3670 UCHAR * 0x0012e120 [ -3] "SELECT * FROM TRSYSTEM WHERE HERSTELLERSYSTEM = ? FOR UPDATE OF herstellersystem ORDER BY herstellersystem\\ 0" SDWORD -3 DIAG [37000] [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver]General error.Syntax error (-11060) Using older Intersolve ODBC 3.11 that errors didn´t occur. AFAIK Intersolve will not be distributed by Informix any more. It wasn´t bundled in SDK 2.40. BTW the Intersolve driver generates some errors when connecting to MS-Access. Your help will be highly appreciated. TIA Reinhard
There are other ODBC Drivers out there. We provide a High-Performance ODBC Driver for Informix which you can download and evaluate free of charge from: http://www.openlinksw.com Our Drivers can connect you to Informix with or without I-Connect. Is it the only solution to buy an other product out there? I received another offer to buy Merant´s SequeLink. Is it really true that Informix will not be able to ship an ODBC driver that does what it should do? Questions on ODBC are answered hardly in this group. Why? I get the impression ODBC a bit a stepchild in informix world. Or is it a decision of strategy to let the producers of ODBC drivers let earn some money with Informix customers? BTW: My test with openlink knocked it out, the test with SequeLink will follow. Reinhard
